Steady does not collect any data. That is not a summary of a longer policy with exceptions further down. It is the whole thing. The sections below just spell out what it means.
What Steady collects
Nothing. Steady has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs of any kind.
What Steady sends over the network
Nothing. Steady makes no network connections. The Mac App Store build runs inside Apple's App Sandbox without the network entitlement, so it is not technically capable of connecting to the internet even if it tried.
What Steady stores
Your settings - the reference frame shape, size, colour and opacity, your crosshair and clock preferences, and any profiles you save - are stored locally on your Mac using the standard macOS preferences system. They never leave your machine. Deleting the app removes them.
What Steady can see
Nothing about your screen or your input. Steady does not request Accessibility or Screen Recording permission, and it does not read the contents of your display or monitor your keystrokes. It draws an overlay on top of whatever is already there.
Steady registers four global hotkeys through the standard macOS hotkey API. That API tells Steady only that one of its own four registered combinations was pressed. It does not give Steady access to any other keystrokes.
Children
Steady is safe for all ages and collects nothing from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted here and the date at the top will change.
